El Alto is the kind of trail that you either love or hate, depending on what type of riding you prefer. The total loop, plus an out-and-back to an overlook above Hidden Falls, is only about a mile-and-a-half, but 'feels' much longer.
The trail is designed with the hard-core rider in mind and will challenge even the fittest and most technical saavy. El Alto incorporates a series of stone outcrops with descriptive -- and colorful -- names such as Big Fat Slab, Skinny Gash, Rocky Horror and The Crux.
The El Alto loop begins and ends off Albert's Alley trail, which connects to the trailhead via Stone Temple Circuit.
