Description for Slickrock Trail
The Slickrock Trail in Moab Utah is probably one of the most popular, or I should say talked about, trails in the US. It receives over 100,000 visitors annually. This is a mountain bikers playground. Huge sandstone domes that offer a rider unique technical challenges. The main Slickrock trail is around 11 miles with numerous side spurs that lead to breathtaking scenic overlooks. All trails are marked with white painted dotted lines. You go a little crazy watching them all day but they do a good job of showing you where to ride. It is amazing what you can climb. The rubber tires just stick so well to the rock.
If you have never ridden this type of rock be sure to check out the Slickrock Practice Loop about .3 miles in on the right. At mile 2.3 turn left to do the lollipop loop clockwise, more climbing at first when you aren’t as tired and then enjoy the downhill. Be sure to check out the overlooks for amazing views of Moab, Colorado River, and Arches National Park. The whole loop will take about 3-4 hours depending on your ability and familiarity with Slick rock.
