Description for White Mesa
You will not find a terrain like this anywhere, except for on the moon! The area is near a gypsum mine so the soil is white, red, and green. Stay on the trail.
Directions to White Mesa Trailhead
North from Bernadillo to mile post 27. Turn left and follow dirt road about three miles to the fenced parking lot.

The area is nice with wide open views. Most of the trail is single track. It is pretty easy to follow in the clock wise direction. In wet conditions the clay is a mess. There are a few little technical sections but nothing that can't be ridden, except for the hike a bike section to get back up on the ridge. There is plenty of climbing and some fun descending. The loop is about eight or so miles long. It is probably worth riding in both directions on the same day.
