Description for Savage Park
Savage Park and Wincopin Trails: Being creative you can rinde 4.5 Miles in the primary park (Red, Yellow, Blue and Green Trails) without going in the same direction. There are three stairs that are really the only technical part of the ride. However, there is an additional White trail that goes under the I-95 for a mile, that is also moderately technical ending on Vollmerhausen Rd near Murry Hill Rd. You can get a good 6.5 mile workoout with a few technical sections and beautiful sections along the Little and Middle Patuxent Rivers
Directions to Savage Park Trailhead
I prefer to go in on Vollmerhausen near Murry Hill Rd at the end of the White Trail, Go under I-95 and hit the middle of the Yellow Trail and go Left up a short rocky hill. Right in the GREEN, RIGHT where it merges with the BLUE, LEFT at the Next Fork, RIGHT at Next Fork, RIGHT fork again and straight down the hill, at the bottom make a LEFT along the Little Patuxent River, LEFT back up the hill (The Quarry is a dead end), RIGHT at the next fork (You have been her before), LEFT onto the BLUE, LEFT again and then down some stairs (Can be slightly technical...remember speed is your friend), LEFT along the Middle Patuxent, then LEFT back up the hill (You have been down this hill), then back up to the BLUE and Make a LEFT, RIGHT, then follow the GREEN/BLUE, LEFT back on the GREEN (You are back tracking. LEFT on the RED then another immediate LEFT down some stairs then follow the Middle Patuxent until you hit the YELLOW, then down a steep slope that ends at the river so be careful. Make a R
