Description for The Monkey Trail
The initial 7 miles of Monkey Trails in Shreveport Louisiana is impressive, a high-quality mix of hills and flat areas. Every junction of the trail is marked with red and green markers. The ride is speedy and tight but rough with lots of roots. This segment of the ride ends when you reach your destination on the street by the parking area. The final 4 miles of trail is extremely steep and has incredibly quick turns, it is all marked with red trail markers. This part of Monkey Trails I would not advocate for the beginner. These trails are extremely well marked and kept incredibly spotless and clear. Monkey Trail is one of the best rides in the area. This trail is well worth the drive from New Orleans. It's about an 11 mile loop with winding singletrack, jeep roads and an abundance of climbing to keep you honest. A small number of good jumps are spotted through the loop for your satisfaction. The park closes at 5pm.
Directions to The Monkey Trail Trailhead
To get to the Monkey Trails Head southeast toward I-49 S, Merge onto I-49 S, Take exit 201 for Inner Loop Expressway/Louisiana 3132, Keep right at the fork, follow signs for LA-3132 W/Inner Loop Expy and merge onto LA-3132 W/Inner Loop Expy, West on Inner Loop to Walker Rd; go South on Walker Rd to Colquitt Rd -Hwy 525; West on Colquitt Rd to the town of Spring Ridge and Hwy 169 (11 miles); Turn left, south on Hwy 169 at flashing red light and turn left, east on Hwy 789. There is a sign exactly in the center of this bend for the prison, follow that sign. Continue South on Hwy 789 for approx 3 miles. Park entrance is on the right just beyond the church.
