Just started riding Fixed Gears, both on and off road, in the last 6 months and I love it!

Off road fixie? How do you do it? Do you have brakes on your bike? I would love to see a pic of your fixie mountain bike. How do you climb over logs or rocks?

I just got a fixie road bike about 2 months ago and just love it. I am learning a lot about my spin. I just love how smooth the pedal stroke is. I will post some pics of it soon.

I should probably make a fixie road bike forum.

No fixie for me yet. SDrider is trying to get me into it but so far I'm resisting. I might try it someday but for now I'll stick to the geared road bike.

Well, I haven't had the pleasure of trying any obstacles, just been riding dual track and fire roads, and a few rail trails. Yes, front and rear brakes are mandatory. On the roads, though, only one brake is really needed for me at this point. My next road build (a recycled Fuji) will probably only have one brake.

Here is my MTB rigged for road duty as a fixed gear:

I just started riding fixie in the last 6 mos and I love it. Since I started riding fixie my climbing abilities off road have improved 10 fold.

Sweet ride, looks like a lot of fun.

If I just wanted to try it could I put a fixie cog and a lock nut on my single speed hub?

You guys would not believe the number of guys here on the east coast that ride 29er single speeds on single track.
It is amazing to watch these guys climb what I do in 3rd.
I think it is becoming a new class of rider here, If you tree trunks for leggs I guess you can do it.
