Description for Heil Valley Wild Turkey Trail
The Wild Turkey Trail is a new addition to the Heil Valley family of trails. You start off on a fire road and soon merge onto the Wapiti Trail. This part of the trail is very rocky but not too steep. I took the SS Rigid 29er and it was very taxing on the body.
After 2.5 miles of rock gardens you come to the Ponderosa Loop, go right and you will see the Wild Turkey Trial soon. At first if was more of the same rocky riding but soon sections of smooth single track started to appear. There are some very niced burmed corners and slight ups and downs. The best single track is at the North end of the trail - smooth fast trail through the trees.
I was going to take the Ponderosa Trail back but I has so much fun on the North section of the of the Wild Turkey tail, I had to take it back the other way.
The Wapiti Trail is 2.5 miles each way and the Wild Turkey Trail is 2.9. With the small section of the Ponderosa Trail the ride is about 11 miles out and back. Overall the ride was fun but I wouldn't take a rigid SS agian.
