Description for Sawtooth Ridge
The Sawtooth Ridge Trail outside Lake Tahoe is a great trail to acclimate yourself to the altitude. Sawtooth Ridge Trail is 11 miles of relativly flat tight twisty singletrack. The trial runs along the ridge above the Truckee River. The altitude is just above 6,000 feet. I wasn't kidding when I said twisty, this is a very twisty trail, but still a blast. It has fantastic views of the Truckee River, Squaw Valley, Northstar and Castle Peak.
Directions to Sawtooth Ridge Trailhead
To get to the Sawtooth Ridge Trail from Truckee head south on Brockway Road (old Route 267) to Palisades Road where you will go right. Palisades becomes Ponderosa Drive then you make a right on Silver Fir Drive. Next is a left on Thelin Drive then just after that turn look for forest service road 06 and go through the open gate. Go up the road for less than a mile to a large dirt parking area on the right.
