Description for Los Penasquitos

Los Penasquitos lies between Rancho Penasquitos and Sorrento Hills to the north and Mira Mesa to the south. Stretching approximately seven miles from the I-5 and 805 merge to just east of I-15; it encompasses some 4,000 acres of both Penasquitos and Lopez Canyons. The Preserve is jointly owned and administered by the City and County of San Diego.

These are great trails for a lunch or after work mountain bike ride. You can get a good 15 mile ride in combining double track and single track. There are some fun single tracks on the top of the mesa. You can also combine this with Black Mountain to get over a 20 mile ride. If you stay down in the canyon these are some great beginner mountain bike trails.

This is a great mountain bike ride for after work. Los Penasquitos gives you many options but make sure you stay on the bike only side. The powerline uphills are challenging but a good workout and the downhill afterwards is worth it. This is a good mountain biking area for anyone working in the Sorrento Vally or Mira Mesa area. Watch out for snakes, we almost ran one over once.
