Description for Bailey Cove
This is a mostly flat loop trail that goes along Shasta Lake at Bailey Cove. We usually ride this twice each way to make it a worthwhile trip out there.
Directions to Bailey Cove Trailhead
Take 1-5 north of Redding to the Bailey Cove exit, follow the signs to the Bailey Cove boatramp, trail head is on the east side of the boat ramp.

We selected Bailey Cove as a relatively light ride on a weekend afternoon. Riding as an intermediate w a fairly timid light intermediate female, the flatness of the trail underrepresents the difficulty. It is nearly flat, but at low lake levels, there are some pretty severe exposures around the peninsula. We rode in early April, and the lake was at about -80 feet. I enjoyed the ride, but several hundred feet of the loop are on a fairly narrow trail, 14 to 16 inches wide, with a drop fairly straight to the lake surface. In higher pool levels, would be a nice, almost family, ride. Very pleasant, not aerobic, not crowded, very scenic. Hardware store bike or hardtail perfectly adequate. If it is early summer, and you want to introduce one to biking, this is perfect. Is an easy ride to top off a riding weekend.
