Description for Bonelli Park
Bonelli park is a fun in-town trail ride. Great as a before or after work/school mountain bike ride. The following aerobic and technical ratings are based on a 10-mile loop around the whole park with some short but semi-steep climbs. There are, however, some really easy, short, and fun trails for beginners. They hold the "Muddy Buddy" race here every year, and don't be surprized if you see a triathlon going on. Watch out for horses and hikers/trail runners. If you live near Bonelli Park you can get aquainted with the best routes in just a couple rides. I like to go counter-clockwise around the park, but I've seen riders go the other way too.
Directions to Bonelli Park Trailhead
There are many ways to get to Bonelli Park, and many options for parking. I recommend taking the 57 Frwy to Via Verde Rd. (It's the same off-ramp as Raging Waters.) You can park at the park'n'ride that is on the west side of the freeway (see map). You'll have to ride back over the freeway to get to trail head. The trail head is on the right-hand side of the road, right when you cross over the freeway before you get to the Bonelli Park / Raging Waters sign. You can get a map of the trails for the visitor's center, but many of the trails are not marked. It's hard to get lost though. Just explore and have fun the first few times you go, and you'll find a trail route that best suits you.

Just rode the trails today. There have been some races there lately, and there will also be one tomorrow so the good singletrack has been cleaned up. There was a lot of mud on the trails from the recent rains, and it looks like they have been ridden everyday since. Watch out for ruts everywhere. I think by later this week it's gonna be rough. Get out there as soon as you can.

Trails are heavily used so maintenance wasn't really a problem. Tons of other hikers, bikers, and trail showed signs of horses but we didn't run into any today. Nothing too technical, a couple fast downhills but the biggest challenge were the elevation changes. I suspect there is an easier section between Brackett Air Field and the top (where you pickup Kiko's trailhead) but I'm pretty sure I did it the hard way. Probably didn't help that I had another 65+ lbs towed behind me with my son on his Co-Pilot. At any rate, fun day...wished I could have hit the downhills faster (without my co-pilot) but otherwise had a good time.
