Pemberton mountain bike trail in phoenix, AZ is a 15.4-mile loop in McDowell Mountain Regional Park, north of Fountain Hills. It is a relatively easy trail but short steep climbs and fast hard pack trail keeps everyone interested. The trail begins three-quarters of a mile from McDowell Mountain Park Drive at the large parking area at the end of Schallmo Drive. Most mountain bikers ride Pemberton in a clockwise direction. The trail passes Granite, Stoneman and Tonto Tank trails which you can also ride. Pemberton continues south and then uphill and west to the base of McDowell Mountains. When the Pemberton trail turns north there are a lot of fun ups and downs. At about 9 miles you turn right on a jeep road which is all downhill. Let it all go but watch out for other bikers, hikers and horseback riders. It is about a 2 hour ride if you are fast but 3 hours for slower riders. Mountain biking Pemberton trail in Phoenix will definitely put a smile on your face.

This is a great desert ride with a mix of some sand, hard pack and a few rocky sections. A beginner with good endurance can easily do the whole loop. I think this trail is best ridden the CCW direction. There are several cutoffs that can be taken to shorten the ride. I have only ridden this trail completely through one time and I rode a section with my wife another time. There is a fee to enter the park. There is also another set of trails near the entrance.
Take Beeline Hwy or Shea blvd to fountain hills. From Shea blvd go north on N Fountain Hills Blvd. Continue on E McDowell Mountain Rd. Turn left at N McDowell Mountain Park Dr. Go about .8 miles and turn right at Shallmo Dr.
