Oak Mountain State Park mountain bike trails in Birmingham Alabama is some of the best riding in the state. There is a great 17 mile loop consisting mostly of twisty rolling singletrack. The climb up Oak Mountain is very demanding and you may find some great views in the winter months. Oak Mountain is well maintained and there is usually not too many other mountain bikers on the trails, except on nice weekends. Start at either the north or south trailhead. The south trailhead is closer to the main gate of Oak Mountain State Park. Riding clockwise is easier, it is a smooth trial to the top. Riding counterclockwise is quite a bit more technical.
